Sunday Morning Car Chase

February 26, 2012

Columbus, MS, Crime, Mississippi, News

An early morning traffic stop could have turned dangerous this morning, when a suspect refused to stop for LCSO Deputies.  At approximately 9:00am this morning, Deputy Mark McGarity attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Main Street and Fourth Avenue South.

The suspect fled and lead deputies on a chase that ended in the area of Parkwood RV Park, located off of Plymouth Road.  The vehicle, driven by Eric T. Owens of Illinois, drove through the RV Park at a high rate of speed, over a small field and into the creek located behind the Park.

The suspect was apprehended and transported to BMH.  Charges are pending.

The story will be updated as information becomes available.
